BMW China has notified the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine that it will begin recalling over 2,100 imported X5 SUVs next month, qiche365.org.cn reported today. The recall, which will begin on March 18, will target 2,116 X5 SUVs manufactured between May 2006 and March 2010.
The X5 SUVs (pictured) are being recalled due to concerns that the brake vacuum pump may leak lubricating oil, potentially causing the power assist braking to malfunction. In severe circumstances, the SUV may not be able to brake properly.
BMW China will conduct free repair of all recalled vehicles found to have been affected by the issue. The manufacturer, via its certified dealerships, will begin contacting X5 owners to schedule appointments for inspection.
